Track Inventory on Products & Events

July 26, 2011

Cart66 Inventory Tracking - Automatic 'SOLD OUT' textThe Cart66 e-commerce plugin lets you set a stock amount for any product in your online shop. The in-stock amount counts down automatically when products are successfully purchased and when the stock amount reaches zero, the product is no longer available to purchase. You could use this functionality to:

  • Set a maximum no. of attendees for an event

Design a Vertical Features Box

July 7, 2011

WordPress Design TutorialsDisplay your product options vertically inside a table with specially formatted headings, summary of main features and ‘call to action’ buttons at the bottom of each section.

Learn How to Design This Table

Vertical Features Table

NOTE: Although the ‘call to action’ buttons on this table link to a shopping cart, this tutorial would work just as well with ‘Book Now’ or ‘Sign Up Now’ or ‘Get a Quote’ buttons linking to an online form (you can skip step 1 below if this is you).

If you have a lot of products, you may be better listing them one under the other in a table with the ‘Call to Action’ button in the right hand box on each row.

Keep Reading to find out how to design a table like the one above using a combination of WordPress plugins and other online resources.

Cart66 – WordPress Shop Plugin

June 15, 2011

Cart66 the flexible shopping cartThe Cart66 WordPress Plugin can be used to sell ordinary products, digital products for immediate download and subscriptions. It is also a membership plugin which you can use to setup customer-only sections and member only sections on your website. By using both the shop and membership functionality, you can sell access to your website content (I use this for the tutorial part of this website).

It can be used with gravity forms so you can collect any amount of custom info as part of checkout process making it fantastic for event registrations and customised products. You can use it in widgets on your sidebar and homepage as well as inside tables (great for product lists or feature boxes or event lists).

NOTE: There is also a free version of Cart66 but it doesn’t include membership capability.

Create a Customer Only Section

May 6, 2011

Add value to your website with a customer only sectionYou can use the Cart66 membership and e-commerce plugin to create a section on your WordPress website which is only visible to people who login with a certain access level. Create one access level for all your customers or multiple access levels such as one for each of your products.

A customer section on your website should add value for your customers and save you time explaining and sending the same information again and again. If the information you add is useful, your customers will keep returning to your website and this will ultimately increase your chances of continuing to do business with them in the future.

This is the first in a series of tutorials on using Cart66 to create different types of membership and e-commerce website including paid membership sites, wholesale pricing shops and event registrations.

Keep reading to find out how to setup access levels, create customer only pages, add a login form and create customer login accounts plus creative ways to use this plugin and what to put in your customer sections.
