Sample Monthly Newsletter

November 18, 2009

Yesterday I wrote a post on how to use the Post Notification Plugin to create a monthly newsletter containing any number of posts from the categories you choose instead of just one newsletter per post. This post is a sample monthly newsletter to show you what it might look like on your website.

My Latest 5 Posts

  • Integrating Wordpress & Twitter

Twitter is one of the best tools out there to drive customers to your website. To keep your website really fresh and up to date, use the Twitter Tools Plugin to completely integrate your Wordpress blog and your Twitter account.=

  • Screenshots + Notes = Blog Visuals
  • Add Subscribe to Comments Option

The Subscribe to Comments plugin adds an option to your comments form so that readers can receive email notification of any comments added to a post they are interested in.

  • Schedule Statistics Reports By Email

If you have a free Google Analytics account linked to your website you can navigate to any section of your statistics, then schedule a report to be emailed to you/someone else every week/month/day. Find out how to schedule a summary, new subscribers to e-newsletter and posts by a particular author.

  • Manage Rotating Banners & Graphics

The Ad Minister Plugin for WordPress allows you to easily add, manage and track banner ads, square ads, text ads and skyscrapers to any section of your website. Add as many ad graphics as you like to each location and they will display in rotation (a different ad every time your readers visit a new page).

If you would like to receive my newsletter once a month instead of whenever I publish a new post, please subscribe here. When you confirm your subscription via a link in an email, select the “Monthly Newsletters Only” category and save your settings. If you are already subscribed, just click the link at the bottom of this newsletter to change the categories you are subscribed to.

[...] There are several different ways to do this, depending on whether you want your newsletter on a page or a post and which subscribers you want to receive it. See my sample page or my sample post. [...]

So I tried this plugin. I could get test emails to work but could not get the signup for to generate anything to the inbox from the signup block down at the right side of my blog page.

So I have started playing with meenews – this one sets up fine but cannot be scheduled

If you have any guesses as to what is going on that would be really helpful

    Hi Jocelyn,
Not sure if you are expecting an email when someone new signs up. This doesn’t happen.
    I would check 2 things…
Have you specified which page on your site is the signup page in the Post Notification settings? The signup form needs to link through to a page on your website.
The second is to upload the smtp mail plugin which works in conjunction with Post Notification to make sure emails are send properly.
