Manage Rotating Banners & Graphics
December 3, 2009
The Ad Minister Plugin for WordPress allows you to easily add, manage and track banner ads, square ads, text ads and skyscrapers to any section of your website. Add as many ad graphics as you like to each location and they will display in rotation (a different ad every time your readers visit a new page).
Not Just Advertising…
Not only is this plugin perfect for sponsorship advertising and affiliate banners, it is also great for displaying a variety of promotional graphics and text of your own. I have used it to display screenshots of websites I have designed in my sidebar. These change each time a new page loads so keep the site fresh and show my readers a better selection of images.
Download the Ad Minister Plugin…

Get Affiliates to Promote Your Products
June 12, 2008
Do you like the idea of other websites promoting and selling your products. E-junkie allows you to setup your own affiliate program, which website/blog owners can join. When they direct customers to your products and the customers make a purchase, you give the affiliates a percentage of the cost.
How to create your own affiliate program
- Join E-Junkie (free one week trial, then US$5 per month)
- If you haven’t already, add your products with pricing etc
- Go to View/Edit/Delete Product
- Select a product from drop down
- Click on Edit Affiliate Settings button
- Enter percentage you want the affiliate to get for each sale
- Tick to allow people to buy direct from the shopping cart (they don’t go to your website so don’t get the chance to see/order your other products)
- Tick Hop link – Paste the web address from your website product page here (affiliates then point people to your website for more info)
Affiliate Wish List – New Zealand
March 29, 2008
The most frustrating thing when setting up a New Zealand based website selling affiliate products is the lack of NZ companies with affiliate programs. There are quite a few in the books and music industries but that’s about it. When planning my Little Boys Toys website, I wrote an affiliate wishlist including all the types of products I wanted to include on my site.
I would like to invite all New Zealand affiliate marketers to add to it and we can eventually convince more website owners to setup an affiliate program for their products. If you have a type of product or specific company you would like added to the list, please email me or use the comment form below.
The New Zealand Affiliate Wishlist
- Sports Shop (kids balls, soccer goals, cricket sets, trampolines, boogie boards etc)
- Stationery Shop (craft supplies, art paper, crayons etc)
- Kids Clothes (Pumpkin Patch, other NZ brands)
- Memberships & tickets (Auckland Zoo, Kelly Tarltons etc)
- Bike Shop (kids bikes, scooters, helmets etc)
- Grocery Retailer
If you have a type of product or specific company you would like added to the list, please email me or use the comment form below.
Your Brand on an Amazon Store
March 22, 2008
Once you become an Amazon associate, one of the selling options available to you is to setup your own aStore.
This is a fully functional shop selling Amazon products but with your own branding and logo. This can appear as a stand-alone shop (see example) in which case it will have an Amazon address, or inside your website (see example) in which case it will have your address, logo and branding. Some other great features of aStore are:
- ability to add your own comments to every category and product
- automatic navigation including a link to your own website
- options to show Similar Items or Wish List items on the sidebar
I have just setup by own aStore selling books, toys, dvds, clothing etc for little boys. It took me just over an hour, and is integrated into my website. Visit my new aStore…
You may not have realised but Amazon sells everything from books to clothing to computers to toys to kitchenware etc etc. If your market is the US or international, this is a quick easy and proffessional way to setup a great affiliate website. Click on the banner below and then on the Associates link at the bottom of the page to join Amazon’s affiliate program.
NZ Affiliate Programs for Your Website
November 22, 2007
Joining a website affiliate program which complements your product and provides you with additional income is great for you and your customers.
Most people just add a product here and there on their website or blog, but many people are now building entire websites based on products from affiliate programs they are a member of. You simply find a niche on the web which doesn’t seem to be catered for or find a topic you are very knowledgeable/interested in, create a website, add products from various related affiliate programs, market the site well online and start earning commission on products people click on on your website. In most cases they need to actually make a purchase before you receive any money.
You can find a full list of Affiliate Programs in New Zealand at http://www.affiliateprograms.co.nz/new-zealand-affiliate-program-list/ as well as lots of useful articles on making money this way.
Or check out the Affiliate Directory, New Zealand

Sell Books on Your Website
November 13, 2007
A great way to offer your customers additional infomation and make some money at the same time is to join a website affiliate program with Amazon (US-based) or Fishpond (New Zealand and Australia) to promote books of your choosing on your website or blog. See the Blogging Books section on the right sidebar of this blog as an example of what you can do.
Sell Amazon Books – Earn up to 8% from referrals
To join Amazon Associates, go to the Amazon website and click on Associates Program on the left sidebar. Once your membership has been approved, you login and go to Build Widgets/Links. Before you start building links or widgets, it is a good idea to visit the main website and find all the books you want to promote on your site, scroll down each book listing to find the ASBN number and make a note of it. Once you have created a widget or link, it is just a matter of pasting the code into your website or blog. The great thing about Amazon is that it is not only books, but also music, toys, clothing and millions of other products which may complement your products.

Types of links
- You can create a box similar to the one on my website using the “My Favourites” link.
- You can choose a banner link like the one below.
- If you have a free WordPress blog, you can create product links to individual books and paste them inside posts or pages for users to click on.
- You can also build your own A-Store full of all your favourite books etc.
- See other examples of Amazon widgets and banners in the sidebars of Kath’s Sticky Websites blog.
Sell Fishpond Books – 10% commission on books, music and movies
To join the Fishpond Affiliate Program go to http://www.fishpond.co.nz/affiliate_info.php?osCsid=cb24edb2cdd74d8586607794311c2471. Fishpond is based in New Zealand and Australia so if your customers are mostly in New Zealand, this is a good one to use in terms of delivery costs and range of New Zealand books. Once your membership has been approved, you login on left side of the website and go to Build Links. Before you start you need to visit the main Fishpond website and find all the books you want to promote on your site. You then make a note of the product number (the 7 digit number at the end of the page url) of each book. Once you have built a link, you simply paste the code into your website or blog.
Types of Links
- Build a Link- You create links with a photo of the book to paste into a post or page on your website.
- Product Links – You can put general banners onto your site like the one below.
All links contain your unique affiliate code so Amazon or Fishpond know that visitors have come from your website. Give it a try and add value to your website and your business.
I’ll be posting links to more great affiliate websites over the next few weeks. Please let me know how you get on with Amazon or Fishpond in the comments box below.
